Busan-Day 4 (Discovering My Roots)

June 9th, 2014 (Monday)

I went to De-Byun county in Busan to harvest onions and some other vegetables and fruits from my great-aunt's field. She owns a little bit of land there. A fish market was nearby, so we looked around. The market was right by the ocean so there was a lot of boats that fisherman used beside the dock. When we were done, we picked up some relatives and drove to a rural area. Here, we were going to hold a memorial service for my great-grandparents and some other older relatives. Grandma had reserved a place at a seafood restaurant. I love seafood! The food was pretty good! We had to hike a trail to get there. There was sharp thorny plants sprouting everywhere! Later, after we got home, I went to the beach again. I try to go to the beach as often as possible. There are no beaches in Seoul or in Kansas, where I live in the United States.

-Japanese apricots (me-sheel) that we picked of a tree.
-De-byun county (I'd like to point out that de-byun means feces in Korean, but the Chinese characters are different. Each Korea syllable usually has a corresponding Chinese character).

- Myul-Chee (salted anchovies/fish): this is the secret of delicious kimchi

-Holding a memorial service for relatives

-Sushi is what we had for lunch.
